Behavioral Specialist Consultant

REPORTS TO: PROGRAM COORDINATOR- BHRS
FEE FOR SERVICE HOURLY RATE: $34.00- Direct contact hours with one additional hour paid for administrative/ supervisory time per week. Travel time is calculated into the rate.
OVERVIEW: The Behavior Specialist Consultant (BSC) identifies behavioral goals and intervention techniques and recommends non-averse behavioral change methods. While maintaining some level of contact with the child and family, the BSC primarily provides assessment, program design and monitoring rather than direct therapy. The BSC is generally utilized when expertise in behavior management protocols are needed that the MT and TSS cannot provide. The BSC in collaboration with the family and other team members designs and directs the implementation of a behavior modification intervention plan which is individualized to the child/adolescent and family needs.
BRIEF OUTLINE OF POSITION:
1. Observation and assessment of the child in the setting where behavioral intervention(s) will be implemented.
2. Development of the behavioral intervention plan.
3. Conduct a Functional Behavioral Assessment if recommended.
4. Collaboration with other members of the team regarding their roles and responsibilities in implementing the plan.
5. Collaboration with the team so that school, home and community behavioral plans compliment each other.
6. Consultation to the team when problems arise in the implementation of the plan and crisis intervention.
7. Revision of intervention plan as needed.
8. Assessment of strengths and therapeutic needs.
9. Determination of any other necessary family support services to provide continuity of care.
10. Attend regularly scheduled supervision with a CATCH licensed psychologist.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree from an accredited university in a clinical mental health program with Psychotherapy Lab and Clinical Practicum. Two years verified post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment to children, and at least one year experience using behavior analysis/ modification techniques and at least one year experience involving functional behavior assessments is preferred. Preferred candidates will be Board Certified Behavior Analysts or have had a Bureau of Autism Services training in order to conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments when behavioral health needs of a child are compounded by developmental disorders. At their own cost, a BSC must maintain proof of current CBH and State requirements including valid FBI, State Criminal and Child Abuse clearances; an unexpired first aide and CPR training, behavior modification training (minimum of 8 hours prior to hire and ongoing 8 hours per year). When available, a BSC may attend a CATCH offered Quality Assurance course, but they will not be paid their hourly rate.
